CONCORD GOLF CLUB

Monday 2nd June 2025

After weeks of rain and having to miss our game at Killara GC, it was great to be welcomed at Concord, which had dried very well, allowing carts on the day.

A field of 38, including two Directors from Concord, took part in an individual stableford. Concord, as usual, was presented very well but it is always a good test of golf, which was borne out by the scores on the day. GolfLink showed a difficulty factor of +3 on our submitted scores!

Simon Farr-Jones (AGC) playing off 9 was the winner with 35 points. Joint runners-up were Mark Meares (Monash) and Malcolm Boyd (Pymble) with 33 points.

Winner, Simon Farr-Jones with President John Barbour.

Vice-captain David Dobbin presented balls down to 28 points.

NTP was won by Les Browne who nearly holed out (9 cm) on the 14th. Great shot Les!

John Barbour asked for a minute’s silence in memory of our Life member, John Higson, who  made a wonderful contribution to golf at all levels.

As President of Concord GC, Ian Crighton was thanked for allowing the SGS to play at Concord and for the manner by which Concord looks after the Society. Director Helen Barnes was also welcomed and thanked for joining us for a day’s golf.

Three new members played their first game with us. Welcome to Tony Davis (Elanora); Steve Mackintosh (Pymble); and Michael O’Brien (RSGC).

Our next outing is at NSW Golf Club on Tuesday 1st July.  Bookings are already quite strong so if you would like to experience the recently renovated NSW please book now.
